I’ve been overweight my entire life. My first experience with a diet, I was 8 years old. Some things worked, some didn’t. I never let my weight hold me back. However I always knew that it wasn’t healthy and that I should do something about it.
After a cancer diagnosis, stem cell transplant and side effects of chemo drugs, I had enough! I needed to get my health back on track. I survived cancer and I wasn’t going to let my weight be the death of me. While it was a while before I could get back to “normal”, I knew it wasn’t just the effects of cancer, transplant, etc. My weight was becoming more of a hindrance to doing things that I wanted to do. I hit my rock bottom of health/weight. I knew I needed to change, but how? I decided I wanted to see a nutrionist, but who do you go to? I wanted someone that had experience with people who had cancer. I put it on the back burner.
Then I attended a talk that Julie gave and knew that this is what I had to do and she was the one that was going to guide me through this. Little did I know how much of a change she would be to my life. She gave me the tools and support needed to make a lifestyle change to save myself. I have learned so much in the past 8 months with Julie. Sometimes you have to be willing to take a chance and just believe! So 8 months in, I’m down 105 pounds!! I still have more weight to lose but I am incredibly happy with not only the weight loss but also knowing that I am getting healthier and educating myself on the body and how food helps/hurts your body.
